MAV is the Hungarian Railways Company that operates in Hungary. There are several types of train, Express, InterCity Gyorsvonat (fast trains), Szemelyvonat (passenger trains). Budapest is well connected by this rail system and the network of high speed inter-city trains that connects the large towns and cities of the country. There are direct rail links between Budapest and the major capitals and cities of Europe. Over 50 international trains arrive in and depart from Budapest daily. Tickets are available at the train stations, MAV’s central ticket office at VI. Andrassy út 35, and at Travel Agencies.
The best way to travel between the stations or to anywhere else is to use the rail-bus service operated by the MAV (The Hungarian Railways Company). The stops of the 12 seater buses are displayed outside of each station. Reservations can be made at each Intercity stations in Hungary.

Budapest Train Stations
Budapest has 3 main train stations for international and domestic trains. All the stations are about 45 minutes from the airport and have connection to the metro system and other public transport.
Keleti (Eastern) Station
Red metro line, stop: Keleti pályaudvar.

Most international trains leave from Keleti. Tickets for domestic IC (InterCity) trains can be ordered by phone 24 hrs. Domestic and international information desk open 24 hrs.
Nyugati (Western) Station

International destinations from Nyugati are mostly eastward. Nyugati serves Visegrád and Esztergom, the great plain and the Danube bend.

Budapest has a busy international airport with flights from many international destinations. The airport is not far outside the city. The fastest and easiest way to and from the airport is with the Airport Shuttle buses. If you book in advance you can save 10% of the standard fare, and they will deliver you to the door of your hotel, or to the conference directly. UNDERGROUND:
Budapest has a useful underground system. The easiest way from the hotel to the Gala Dinner venue is to use the Underground Line M1 to Hero's Square.
Tickets for the underground can be purhcased from the Underground stations ticket offices.
