The 20th IAMA International Conference 22-24 April 2010, Cité de la Musique, Paris.

Thank you to all those who made the conference despite difficult travel circumstances. In the end, only around 25% were affected by the situation and couldn't make it. IAMA would like to applaud all those who came from far off who travelled many, many hours to be there. We have had very good feedback and we thank you for your encouraging words. For those who couldn't attend due to air traffic control, the Association is under no obligation to refund delegate fees but the Board will consider its position at their September meeting on 24th and the decision will be communicated to the members.

Catherine Le Bris, Conference Chair It has been my great pleasure and challenge to programme the 20th IAMA International Conference at the Cité de la Musique, Paris. The conference  committee namely, Emmanuel Hondré, Caroline Sonrier, Pierre Korzilius and Hervé Boutry have compiled the panel sessions which look at the concept of environment - not only our daily responsibility to this fragile planet of ours, but also the broader concept of man’s interaction with his surroundings and the impact it has. As with the case for sustainable living on earth, we need to be aware of our impact that we make in our communities, on the artists we manage and the audiences who engage with us.

Do think about the impact of how you might travel to Paris - if it is possible by train, consider it, if you fly, perhaps you want to off-set your carbon footprint? In Paris, consider how you get to the conference itself. Small contributions by each individual will go a long way in the end. We’ve come up with a special IAMA logo to demonstrate our environmental intentions so do look out for it!

For the first time, the conference will be on twitter.com/IAMAconference. You will gain insights into session ideas well in advance of the conference and be better prepared to debate and share your thoughts with other delegates.

I’m looking forward to meeting you in Paris and encourage you to book before the early registration deadlines to get the best rates.
Catherine Le Bris, Conference Chairman, CLB Management
